Weekend Class

The new dancers that were coming to our basic class had to cancel. We did a mainstream DBD workshop with the dancers that came to help with the class. They had not tried DBD before. I think that some of them will be coming to the new DBD class that will be starting September 15. We will be starting a new DBD class at 6:30. New advanced class will start at 8:00. The classes will be at the Flushing Senior Center, 106 Elm Street.

It's Over

The Michigan convention is over.
I would like to thank the callers for all their work to make this a great convention. You helped with filling in the spots where someone was missing. Without your help the convention would not have been a success. I was surprised at the turnout for the hexagon square workshop. I put it in to give you something different. If you like something like that please let next years committee know.
See all of you next year.

Wylie Coyotes

We had fun at the Wylie Coyotes last night. We got a little practice of the number one lady letting the set know it is time to get into lines by giving everyone the ‘LOOK’. It works. We will be leaving shortly for the Michigan convention in Lansing. Hope to see you there.

State convention

The state convention is almost here. We are looking forward to seeing some people that we only see at conventions. This should be a good convention. The list of callers is the best in a long time.

Roadrunners' class

For the first time this summer we were able to dance at the park. We almost made it thru the class before it started to rain. We quit and went to A&W.
Wayne Nixon was at the class. He danced a little. It was good to see him.

Margaret Nixon

Margaret's funeral was today. We all will miss her. She helped me so very much. I was very lucky to be asked to be pall bearer. The church was full to overflowing.
Margaret, you were a great lady.
YOU DONE GOOD!

Dance in Cadillac

I called at the Cadillac Square and Round Dance Club in Cadillac, MI. Beth Johnson cued the rounds.
We had a small but enthusiastic group. They are a fun group. Talking with some of the members I found out that the club plans a non-square dance activity each month. They plan to tell about them in the club news on the Michigan Council web site.

Dance at Saginaw County Fair

The dance at the Saginaw Fair went very well. They had a place for us to dance near the midway. We danced continuously and had it full most of the time. The dancers had a good time and we handed out flyers about square dancing. Several fairgoers stopped to watch on their way to the rodeo.
After the dancing the dancers enjoyed several things the fair had to offer. Some went to the rodeo, some to eat, some to the midway and some to look at the exhibits. We are making plans to do it again next year.

Wylie Coyotes

Tonight will be the Wylie Coyotes DBD workshop at the Flushing Senior Center. Plans are falling into place to start DBD and Advanced classes on Wednesdays in September. We will be publishing information soon.

Visit to Wayne Nixon

Last night we stopped to see how Wayne Nixon is doing. He is doing as well as can be expected. The life support was disconnected. Her blood presser is very low. Wayne's daughters were there. He was telling about the decision to remove life Margaret from life support. They said that the doctors were telling them that there appears to be considerable brain damage. They talked about how someone at the church was kept on life support for a year and how bad Margaret thought it was. Margaret told Wayne at that time that she did not want it to happen to her. Wayne and his daughters were looking thru Margaret’s things and sound a letter that she had written to him and the children back in 91 when she was having an operation. The letter told them that then she did not want to be keep alive by machines with no hope of recovery.
